How to Prepare a Honey Glazed Ham

Have guests to impress this holiday season? Follow along for an easy guide, courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Dublin, to deliciously festive honey glazed ham in just a few simple steps!

Follow these simple steps for Christmas dinner success!

Step 1: Buy pre-rolled ham from your local butcher.

Step 2: Poach it in chicken stock if available; if not, water will be just fine if flavoured with onions, carrots, thyme, rosemary, bayleaf, cloves and black peppercorns.

Step 3: Simmer for 2 hours for a 5 kg piece of ham. Allow to cool. Remove skin.

Step 4: Place the ham on a roasting rack and score it with a sharp knife in a diagonal pattern (pictured).

Step 5: Stud the ham with cloves (pictured).

Step 6: Season the ham with olive oil, salt and pepper.

Step 7: Place the ham in an oven pre-heated to 350°F for 40 minutes.

Step 8: Prepare the glaze, a mixture of mustard (with seeds) and honey (pictured).

Step 9: Glaze the ham after 30 minutes in the oven. Put it back in the oven for 10 minutes and then glaze a second time. The ham should be a nice golden colour.

Step 10: Allow the ham to rest for 15 minutes before carving. Enjoy!
